الفجر

89. Al-Fajr

The Dawn

وَٱلۡفَجۡرِ١

By the dawn

وَلَيَالٍعَشۡرٖ٢

And [by] ten nights

وَٱلشَّفۡعِوَٱلۡوَتۡرِ٣

And [by] the even [number] and the odd

وَٱلَّيۡلِإِذَايَسۡرِ٤

And [by] the night when it passes,

هَلۡفِيذَٰلِكَقَسَمٞلِّذِيحِجۡرٍ٥

Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception?

أَلَمۡتَرَكَيۡفَفَعَلَرَبُّكَبِعَادٍ٦

Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with ʿAad -

إِرَمَذَاتِٱلۡعِمَادِ٧

[With] Iram - who had lofty pillars,

ٱلَّتِيلَمۡيُخۡلَقۡمِثۡلُهَافِيٱلۡبِلَٰدِ٨

The likes of whom had never been created in the land?

وَثَمُودَٱلَّذِينَجَابُواْٱلصَّخۡرَبِٱلۡوَادِ٩

And [with] Thamūd, who carved out the rocks in the valley?

وَفِرۡعَوۡنَذِيٱلۡأَوۡتَادِ١٠

And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes?
